Hot Cocoa Mug Cake

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

Brownies, personally, are my guilty pleasure. I love to indulge myself, sometimes even consuming the entire pan of brownies (and feeling absolutely bloated afterwards). Still, for those who actually have an ounce of self-control, I invite you to test out this mug cake recipe. Truly, the name of this decadent delicacy should be hot cocoa mug BROWNIE, but those consonants and vowels just don't elicit the same amount of drooling that hot cocoa mug CAKE does. Name aside, this fluffy brownie-cake hybrid is perfect for anyone who loves chocolate. And everyone loves chocolate.

That mug cake looks awfully scrumptious, doesn't it? It's not only DELICIOUS, but it's an excellent opportunity to use up any hot cocoa packets that may be lying about your pantry. Even better, this recipe only requires TWO materials--a tablespoon and a mug.

So grab that tablespoon and let's dig into this recipe!

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons flour

2 tablespoons brown/white sugar

1 packet of hot cocoa

Dash of salt

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 tablespoons milk

1 tablespoon of any filling of choice (chocolate chips, blueberries, etc.)

Instructions:

Step one:

Fill the mug with flour, sugar, hot cocoa powder*, and salt. Mix thoroughly.

*You can either add more or less of the hot cocoa packet, depending on your desired sweetness level. I recommend ¾ of the packet!

Step two:

Stir in the oil and milk. Combine until a thick sludge forms. Make sure to reach all surfaces!

Step three:

OPTIONAL: poke in fillings and fold into the batter

Step four:

Microwave on high for 1 minute 20 seconds, or until the mixture is set. Let the mug cake cool for 5 minutes. Dig in & enjoy!

Just marvel at this beauty!
