To bring people back to appropriateness in action and to renew their natural ability to do no harm to others or to the earth, our self described task is to offer and exemplify ancient and new practices that preserve a way of knowing and relating to the earth and to all its inhabitants.

Specific practices would include:

Recognizing Beauty
      –

Exercises of Interconnectedness
      –

Wholeness Engagement
      –

Clearing despair, Offering possibility
      –

      –

Touching Nature

Four Initiatives

Leadership Conference.  In planning our Earth Charter event, Oct.2005, we generated Ways of the World Perspectives”: Human to Human; Human to Earth; Earth to Human; and Human to Self.  Based on this work & planned structure, we will engage 50-200 sustainability allies of the Greater Philadelphia area, who are already identified or connected to ASF.   Goal:  A circle of decision makers who have a changed frame with a commitment to collaborate and support a shift in conversations.

Community Discussion Courses and Conversations That Matter.  Public engagement in small local gatherings where discussion is a primary mode will introduce the Ways of the World Perspectives as a context for awareness and engagement with sustainability topics.  Local gatherings will engage in discussion courses and symposiums already developed by other organizations, for example, Northwest Earth Institute, Global Empowerment, Al Gore, World Café Conversations That Matter, and Pachamama Alliance.

Business Events.  Local business leaders and Fortune 500 company leaders that operate in the Greater Philadelphia area will experience events where personal participation is blended with learning unlike any other “corporate” event that will educate and engage them with sustainability best practices.

Raising Our Children.  Without conscious attention to the generations to come, what is our future? ASF will provide access to the best practices in child rearing through parent/teacher education.  ASF will facilitate children having outdoor experiences connecting children to nature.
